Marcel, painted as Baroque royal court portrait
The Sovereign

I cried a little when it arrived. Marcel looks like a small king. The frame is heavier than I expected, in a good way.

Hung it for our anniversary dinner without telling my wife. She welled up. Otto sat under it like he knew.

05. The story

How it started

It started in our favorite dog café in Amsterdam.

We were sitting in our favorite dog café in Amsterdam when my partner pulled a book off the shelf. Dog, by Tein Lucasson. We turned the pages and stopped on a portrait that felt like every serious painting we'd ever loved. Except it was a dog. We looked at each other and said the same thing. We need this at home.

Nothing like it existed for our own dog. Zola is a small, serious princess of a creature, and no studio would paint her in that register. So we built one. My background is in AI images. Ours is a love of dogs, and one in particular.

We named the studio Maison Zola because Zola already runs the house. The rest of us just live in it.

06. Common questions

Pricing, timing, returns

What does it cost?

A digital file starts at $29 and is free during our launch. Printed on fine art paper from $49, gallery canvas from $299, framed canvas from $399. Free worldwide shipping on qualifying orders.

How long does the proof take?

Under a minute. You'll see it on the next screen, no account needed.

What if I don't like the result?

Tell us within thirty days. We'll remake it or refund. No questions, no replacement loop. Your choice between a fresh render and your money back.

Will it actually look like my pet?

Yes. We use AI to render the painting, not to crop and paste. Your pet's likeness is traced from your photo and painted into the chosen studio style: eyes, markings, ears, the parts that make her her. If something isn't right, we redo it free.

What if my photo isn't good enough?

We'll tell you. The studio scores every uploaded photo and suggests another shot if the result won't meet our standard. Re-uploading is free.

Can I change the style after seeing my proof?

Yes. The proof is free. Pick another style and we'll render again.

Where do you ship and how long does it take?

Worldwide. Standard delivery 4–7 business days in the US, 5–10 in the UK, 7–14 internationally. Express delivery is available at checkout.

Do you keep my photo?

We keep it for thirty days so we can re-render or fulfil an order, then we delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner from your order page.

Can I order a portrait of two pets, or my pet with me?

Not yet. Single-pet portraits at launch. Multi-pet and pet-with-owner are in the studio.

Is this in memory of a pet?

We have a quieter page for tribute orders, with the same materials and the same care. See /memorial. We work at the pace this kind of order deserves and we never put you in a replacement loop.

Can I commission a custom style not in the Catalogue?

The Catalogue is fixed for launch. If there's a style you'd like us to consider, write to us.
